The State of New Jersey requires that before a closing on new construction can occur, the builder/seller must obtain a Certificate of Occupancy or a “CO” from the municipality wherein the property is located.
It can be overwhelming when going to the store to get the correct and mandatory detectors/extinguishers. Many have made the mistake of listening to the store workers and or not think there is a difference, especially since these items are not the cheapest options. If do not have the correct Smoke, Carbon Monoxide, and Fire Extinguisher/s you will not receive the certificate, which causes delays on closings.
